How Did Whitney Houston Die?
The great legacy of Whitney Houston ended when she was found dead in the bathtub due to accidental drowning with heart disease. In 2012, at the age of 49, Whitney Houston died a tragic death leaving behind her voice for us to reminisce.
Houston struggled with alcoholism and smoking and soon her health started deteriorating. Having started her musical career at a young age, she had become a part of the entertainment industry very soon. Her drug usage overtook her and she left the world shaken with her sudden demise.
It was right before the 2012 Grammy Awards when this happened. All the musical stars were present in Los Angeles to attend the award ceremony. She checked into the Beverly Hill hotel with her family and friends. As the tradition followed, every year Clive Davis who was also Whitney’s mentor threw a pre-Grammy party.
After laying out the dress for Whitney Houston, her assistant left the room. When she returned to the room, she found Whitney lying unconscious in a water filled bathtub, face down.
She was declared dead at 3:55 pm on the same day. After this many speculations and theories came across about her personal life and the things that she was going through. The police found a champagne bottle and a “white crystal like substance” near the bottle. She was using numerous medications which had anti-depressants, allergy medications and more.
It was later reported that she died due to her heart condition, consumption of cocaine and accidental drowning. She also had a mild case of emphysema, which caused shortness of breath that led to her beautiful voice to deteriorate.
All the biopics and documentaries that were released after her death showcased many sides of her personal life and professional life. But the power of her voice remained constant and everlasting. Nobody can change that.
Whitney Houston’s Substance Consumption
In 1993, Whitney gave birth to a daughter which was one of the most incredible moments of her life. She mentioned in an interview, “But man, when I gave birth to her and they put her in my arms, I thought: ‘This has got to be it. This is the ultimate.’ I haven’t experienced anything greater.”
She soared through the 90s with her music and the movies she did. But that also brought a lot of spotlight and her consumption was increasing more and more. Her ex-husband wrote in his memoir, “For some reason Whitney’s drug use got worse after Bobbi Kris was born.” He mentioned, “Maybe it was because she had to stop using all those months while she was pregnant, but she resumed with a vengeance.”
Bobby Brown On Whitney’s Death
Whitney’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown blames Nick Gordon, his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown’s former boyfriend for the death of the singer. He believes that Nick contributed immensely to Whitney’s death as well as their daughter who died in a similar manner.
Brown learned after his daughter’s death that Gordon used to physically abuse her and regretted not being involved in her life more. He also said, if only Bobbi Kristina Brown had been around her father after her mother’s death, he would have done something about it.
For anyone in the entertainment industry, being in the spotlight can be quite challenging. Balancing their fame and being grounded can be tricky. There’s cameras around them constantly, lack of privacy and unnecessary judgment for everything that they do. During such moments, they look for an escape in the form of intoxication which leads to dangerous consequences.
Whitney Houston left behind a legacy of soulful songs for us to reminisce. She was a beautiful, passionate artist who touched the hearts of many people and influenced many people to pursue singing. She was an inspiration to many and will always be.
